Uzbekistan can be entered through any country it shares a border with except for Afghanistan, which is only open to Uzbek and Afghan nationals. The Kyrgyzstan border is best avoided, as violent incidents have occurred involving foreigners. Bringing private vehicles into Uzbekistan is generally considered to be very difficult, and most advise simply not bothering. An International Driving Permit is required documentation.
